Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)
Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)
[UPDATE September 23, 2024]:
Starting November 1, 2024, candidates applying for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) will need to demonstrate language proficiency at the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 5 for college graduates. International students currently in Canada, as well as prospective students who apply for a study permit before November 1, 2024, will maintain their eligibility for the PGWP.
Also, since LaSalle College is a private educational institution, applicants will not need to have studied in a program that meets a nationally identified labor need.
International students may be eligible for a post-graduation work permit (PGWP) if they graduated from LaSalle College, a designated learning institution (DLI), and want to stay in Canada temporarily to work.
Graduation from a DLI doesn’t automatically make international students eligible for a PGWP.
The PGWP is only available once in a lifetime.
Designated Learning Institution (DLI)
LaSalle College is a private post-secondary educational institution subsidized by the Ministère de l'Éducation du Québec. It is also a designated learning institution (DLI).
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible for a PGWP, students must meet the following requirements:
- Their program must lead a Diploma of College Studies (DCS) or an Attestation of College Studies (ACS)
- Their program length at LaSalle College must be 8 months or longer for a DCS or an ACS
- Demonstrate language proficiency at the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 5 (as of November 1st, 2024)
- They maintained full-time status as a student in Canada during each semester of their study program.
For the complete list of eligibility criteria, please visit the Government of Canada website.
Application submission
Students can apply for a PGWP from inside Canada or from another country, if they meet all the eligibility criteria and have received their degree/diploma, transcript or official letter from LaSalle College confirming that they have completed their studies.
