About the Program

Learn to design an original collection that meets criteria tailored to industry needs and to participate in all stages of production in LaSalle College Montréal's Fashion Design program (ACS).

Acquire the skills to create clothes for different target markets, to choose from fabrics, textures, and colors, to research styles and materials, and to develop marketing strategies.

Diploma & Accreditation

This Attestation of College Studies (ACS) is approved by the ministère de l'Enseignement supérieur of Québec and is internationally recognized.

ACS programs are part of continuing education and destined primarily for adults seeking to add value to their skill set or reorient their career.

Required Materials

A laptop computer is mandatory for study in this program.

Mentors may request other standard or student-licensed software mandatory for their courses to be installed.

The following features are required for Macs and PCs:

  • iOS or Windows 10 operating system in the teaching language (English or French),
  • Processor: Intel I5 minimum compatible with virtualization,
  • Memory: 4 GB (8 GB recommended, particularly for Illustrator),
  • Hard drive: 500 GB minimum,
  • Screen: 14 inches minimum,
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi and LAN,
  • Ports: Minimum of one USB 3.0 port,
  • Mouse (may be wireless).

Required software: Creative Cloud Suite and Microsoft 365 (or equivalent for Mac).

Experiment with materials, patterns, and designs using cutting-edge, industry-standard equipment, software, and technology in our advanced facilities, including:

  • Clothing technology laboratory, equipped with:
    • Sublimation printing equipment,
    • Specialized machines for shoes and leather accessories (skiver, walking foot, swivel arm, post bed),
    • Seam sealer (for waterproof seams),
    • Flatlock (for seams on stretch fabrics),
  • Patronage, drawing and cutting room (open to students outside class hours),
  • A fully-equipped photo studio,

Work Experience

Get sought-after practical experience with our Career Service and our Work-Study Program (WSP), which incorporates two paid internships into your program.

Our Fashion Design program also includes a 120-hour internship or a business start-up project as part of the curriculum.

Admissions Criteria

Exceptions to these admission criteria may be applied.

Every application is reviewed by the College.

To be eligible for acceptance into an ACS program, applicants are generally required to meet one of the following criteria:

  • Have interrupted their full-time studies for at least two (2) consecutive semesters or one (1) full school year; or

  • Have followed post-secondary studies for a period of at least one (1) year; or

  • Have a Secondary School Diploma (DES) or a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS), and the program allows them to receive a technical training that is not available in a DCS program; or

  • Have an equivalent education or an instruction deemed sufficient and meet the admission criteria set for college studies.
