About the Program

Join LaSalle College Montréal's Video Editing program (ACS) and learn the basics of television, compositing, audio mixing, and the entire editing process, from acquiring media to mastering.

Master Adobe Creative Cloud and work with our AVID Media composer certified teacher to learn this key software for the industry.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand various technical aspects of video production, including formats, codecs, resolution, aspect ratios, frame rates, compression settings, and audio editing.
  • Make creative decisions about shot selection and pacing to engage the audience emotionally and intellectually.
  • Ensure that the final video meets the required standards and plays smoothly on different platforms.

Successful Video Editors have a unique combination of skills, including:

  • Video Editing Software Proficiency

    Use software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Creative Storytelling

    Understand the narrative structure of a project and edit footage to tell a coherent story.
  • Attention to Detail

    Notice inconsistencies and errors and rectify them.
  • Visual Aesthetics

    Enhance the overall quality of the video and the application of visual effects.

The use of videos for marketing is becoming increasingly prevalent on the web. Professional video editing caters to client needs, such as content marketing, influencer content, and amateur advertising.

Diploma & Accreditation

This Attestation of College Studies (ACS) is approved by the ministère de l'Enseignement supérieur of Québec and is internationally recognized.

ACS programs are part of continuing education and destined primarily for adults seeking to add value to their skill set or reorient their career.

Required Materials

A laptop computer is mandatory for study in this program.

Mentors may request other standard or student-licensed software mandatory for their courses to be installed.

It has been determined that your study program requires a particularly powerful computer. We understand that such specifications can lead to significant costs. Therefore, it is acceptable to use a computer from the "Creativity" category and to utilize the technological solutions that the College will implement to work around the limitations of your machine.

Computers are also available on campus to accommodate students who need to perform tasks that are more demanding than what their device allows.

Admissions Criteria

Exceptions to these admission criteria may be applied.

Every application is reviewed by the College.

To be eligible for acceptance into an ACS program, applicants are generally required to meet one of the following criteria:

  • Have interrupted their full-time studies for at least two (2) consecutive semesters or one (1) full school year; or

  • Have followed post-secondary studies for a period of at least one (1) year; or

  • Have a Secondary School Diploma (DES) or a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS), and the program allows them to receive a technical training that is not available in a DCS program; or

  • Have an equivalent education or an instruction deemed sufficient and meet the admission criteria set for college studies.

Academic Dates

LaSalle College has three annual start dates: fall, winter, and summer.

We accept applications at any time. Registration is open year-round.

Processing time:

  • Canadian applicants: up to two weeks,
  • International applicants: up to six months.

Submit your application as soon as possible to ensure a spot in your desired semester.

Note that applications are not processed until all required, validated documents and admission fees are received.
