Situation Update at LaSalle College

Update as of September 3, 2026:

LaSalle College confirms the resumption of classes starting tomorrow, Friday, September 4, 2026, according to the regular schedule, following today's ruling by the Honourable Justice Martin Castonguay of the Quebec Superior Court, ordering the full disbursement of the subsidies provided for in the initial 2026-2027 allocation.

On August 24, 2026, LaSalle College Montreal filed for protection under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA), following a $30 million penalty imposed by the Quebec government.

This excessive and unjust penalty, which we have been contesting for two years, placed the College in a difficult financial situation, despite the numerous settlement proposals we submitted to the government. This step was taken to protect the continuity of our institution and the pursuit of your academic journey.

Important note for students: Classes resume on September 4, 2026, according to the regular schedule.

The temporary suspension of classes ended following the court's ruling issued on September 3, 2026. We understand the concern this situation may have caused, and this page aims to answer your questions as clearly as possible.
