Every year at LaSalle College, the Student Affairs team gathers to recognize a student who has distinguished themselves within the student community through their commitment and initiative. This year, the award goes to Bintou Fofana, a second-year student in the Business Management – Accounting Technology program.
What is the AURA Award?
The AURA Award, presented annually by the Association of Private Colleges of Quebec (ACPQ), recognizes students who stand out for their work on community-building projects or for their exceptional commitment to their community. A powerful symbol of influence and inspiration, the AURA Award derives its meaning from the values it embodies: Ambition, Addition, and Improvement; Unification, Union, and Uniqueness; Realization, Influence, Recognition, and Unity; as well as Accomplishment and Rootedness.
More than just an award, the AURA Award celebrates the journeys of young leaders who make a positive contribution to their communities and inspire those around them.
Bintou and the community
Originally from Guinea, Bintou arrived in Canada in 2024 and quickly became part of the college’s student community. Always positive and ready to help others, she soon found her way to AGEL, the student association at LaSalle College. Originally in charge of communications for the association, she was elected director by her peers. Demonstrating leadership, solidarity, and hope, she still holds this position today and continues to spearhead wonderful projects. Over the past year, she has been involved in back-to-school events, open houses, graduations, school trips, end-of-semester parties. Her proudest moment ? The preparation and distribution of 100 Christmas baskets distributed to students in need (each basket valued at $100).
It is therefore with great pride that the 2026 AURA Award is presented to Bintou Fofana!
