It All Started at LaSalle College

The duo met during their first year of fashion school, where they quickly recognized their creative complementarity. Hannah, more methodical and organized, and Steven, more spontaneous and chaotic. This duality fueled their creativity, allowing them to develop a unique vision. According to them, their collaboration is based on a special chemistry, where their differences aren't obstacles but sources of inspiration.

Fecal Matter doesn't do things halfway. From the start, they chose to challenge conventions with bold designs and makeup that pushed boundaries. Drawing from gothic, futuristic, and almost inhuman influences, Hannah and Steven quickly caught the attention of the fashion industry with a radically new and avant-garde vision. Between Vogue and Antidote Magazine, they brought a unique approach, injecting a breath of fresh air and provocation, offering an unexpected alternative to the often conservative norms.

Showing Ingenuity

Faced with material costs, Hannah and Steven had to show remarkable ingenuity. To stay creative while minimizing expenses, they repurposed found objects into fashion pieces. For example, they made dresses out of broken umbrellas and handbags out of wigs. This period of financial strain became a catalyst for their creativity, teaching them to make the most of limited resources and create pieces that defied conventions.

Their efforts eventually attracted the attention of major figures in the fashion world. They collaborated with celebrities like Madonna, who incorporated their creations into her performances, and worked with designers like Rick Owens, who taught them the importance of maintaining a strong artistic vision. A key moment in their rise was their collaboration with Balenciaga Couture, where they were given carte blanche to photograph the collection with complete artistic freedom. This project served as the reward for years of hard work and unwavering conviction.
